Project Type: Hospitality | Geography: Nepal
Grounded on a plateau forged by the great Trishuli River, overlooking the magnificent hills of Kurintar, the hotel combines river adventure, beach thrills with gastronomic delights developed around one of a kind brewery experience. The hotel blurs the distinction between nature and the building. Like the river and the hills, the building meanders in the landscape rising gradually from the earth. Nature consumes the facade and the roof. Here biodiversity is pervasive, always reconnecting with local flora and fauna.
The hotel is part of an existing brewery and biergarten establishment. Stretching along east to west direction, the hotel zig zags along the river setback on the north, forming drop-offs and arrival on its south side.
The ground level mainly hosts guest areas that directly spill out to the sprawling lawns. Subsequent floors are dedicated to hotel rooms with an expansive rooftop terrace that has a bar, assembly venue and viewing tower.
Complementing the building floor plans, each façade vary in design responding to the hot climate and the views. South and west facades are covered with creepers, screening the guest corridors from the parking area and the harsh sunlight. In contrast, the north facade is transparent with recessed balconies, opening the rooms to the views of the river and hills beyond. The east facade is a sloping roof that directly connects the rooftop with the biergarten plaza and the lawns of the brewery. The sloping roof integrates the exit staircases as a meandering ‘hillside’ experience integrated with wildflowers drawing local birds and butterflies.
