LED STREET LIGHT
LED STREET LIGHT
Washington DC, USA

2011 - Completed
Project Type: Products | Geography: USA

Trademarked as the Washington Halo, the Light Emitting Diode (LED) street light will be the first of its kind to be deployed at the city scale. The overall design will incorporate the metal halide roadway lights as needed, and also be adaptable to varying urban conditions.

Integrated with 150 LEDs in a semi-circle, the overall fixture delivers 0.8 Foot Candle illumination level installed at a 16 ft. height and at 44 ft. intervals. The shape of the fixture is designed to maximize the lighting efficiency and dramatically reduce light pollution, and thus supporting the city’s Dark Sky Initiative. In comparison to the conventional technologies for pedestrian streetlights, this LED fixture has ten times the lamp cycle and runs on one fifth the energy cost.
